Alcove - Indian dining experience

Objective:
We were tasked at designing an Indian food experience & restaurant that enhanced and anchored the user in the Indian cuisine, while being nonobjective or directly Indian. The Food & Beverage concept was strongly focused on the Tandoori cooking style. While the space had to incorporate a Bar, Bar lounge & Dining, general dining, and a private dining space that could be rented out when and if needed.

Results:
We approached this by starting with Indian minimalism, creating a soft overall minimalist space, and instilling beautiful details to really home In on the distilled Indian design — this was achieved through column detailing, archways, and a tonal palette of cream, white, and natural hues, accented by pops of desaturated purple & teal. The show kitchen, cantered on a tandoori oven, this round clay pot symbolized by a circular window frame, frames a glowing, orange-tiled room with hanging lights resembling burning coals in a clay pot.
The overall space evokes a soft Indian palace inside, with brushed plaster walls accented with stucco on accenting columns and ceilings. The teal entry way to the private dining frames a cluster of mandalas carved into the wall lit up by glowing fishing baskets & rattan lights.
